Frequently Asked Questions

eCards for Seniors

For Nursing Homes and Volunteers

What is this initiative?

Due to the stay at home order, seniors citizens who are living in nursing homes or skilled nursing facilities are not allowed to have visitors due to safety precautions. To help combat the isolation many seniors may experience, we have started eCards for Seniors as a safe way to connect with seniors during this time!

Who is organizing?

We are a group of students from the Baylor College of Medicine, University of Texas School of Dentistry, and University of Texas School of Public Health looking for ways to help our community. However, this project is in NO WAY AFFILIATED with any of these scholastic institutions.

Who are the recipients?

We have contacted senior homes and centers in our community, and we have received a positive response from all of them! Each senior center has given us an estimate of the number of residents who would love to receive a card from us.

How does this work?

Our volunteers will be making eCards remotely to limit contact exposure. After signing up, each volunteer will be assigned a number of residents to make cards for. Once the cards are uploaded as a PDF to our Google Folder, the eCards will be sent to the nursing home coordinator to be printed and delivered to the residents.
